about
The Cooke County LOSS Team offers postvention care for suicide loss survivors, providing immediate support and resources to those affected. LOSS stands for Local Outreach for Suicide Survivors. The team includes suicide loss survivors, mental health providers, and clergy who offer both immediate and delayed support to families who have lost a loved one by suicide. A team is dispatched by our local police or sheriff’s departments at the time of death or in delayed response situations referred by anyone. Team members continue to support and provide resources to the families for at least the first year after their loss. Our goal is to help those affected by the loss of a loved one by suicide maintain hope and access the proper resources to support a healthy grieving process. Through the team’s efforts, we aim to reduce suicide in our community through prevention with education and awareness.
